Pancakes and waffles are extremely common breakfast items traditionally made from refined flour, eggs, milk, sugar, and various leavening agents. Even supposedly healthier vegan and gluten-free versions usually contain significant amounts of sugar and processed ingredients. Typically, we generously top them with sweet syrups, butter, and sometimes crispy bacon, which dramatically adds saturated fat and excessive salt, significantly increasing calories without providing much genuine nutritional benefit or lasting satisfaction. Most conventional pancakes and waffles rely heavily on white flour, which completely lacks essential B vitamins and beneficial whole grains that our bodies desperately need for sustained energy and optimal health.
